Smoking...
It is now illegal in Scotland to sell tobacco and tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18 (an increase from 16). Will this help to reduce the number of young people smoking? more info >

volunteering

Volunteering does not mean working for nothing. You may not get paid a wage but what you will get is the chance to learn a wide range of new skills, meet new friends and take part in loads of interesting projects.

Volunteering with Fast Forward gives you the chance to be involved in a national organisation which listens to and works for young people. To find out all about the work that Fast Forward are up to, check out the rest of the web site.

How to Apply?
If you are between 16 and 25 years old then you are able to apply. If you've been homeless, had problems with drugs or alcohol, been in care, had problems at home, suffered a from mental illness, been in trouble with the police or been in prison, excluded from school or using a support service, no problem, your experiences are valuable, get in touch.

The Application Procedure...just three easy steps
1. Contact our Volunteers Manager, Gez, by phone (0131 554 4300) or email us. If you have a support worker and you would rather they did it for you, that's OK too.

2. Gez will arrange to meet you for a coffee and a chat either at the office or elsewhere if you prefer. If after talking to him and thinking about it for a couple of days, you're still up for it then get back in touch with Gez and he'll arrange a time to get a few more details from you.

3. As you will be working with young people under sixteen a disclosure form will need to be filled out (we'll help you do this). Having a criminal record will not stop you from volunteering, so don't be put off. You will also need two referees (not family) from people who've known you for a while.

Once that is done you can start!
All you need is a few hours free time and enthusiasm. No experience or qualifications required.
