Smoking...Did you know that as of the 1st October 2007 it became illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy or be sold tobacco? Here is some information to help you understand why.
star 26th March 2006 Scotland introduced legislation to ban smoking in enclosed public places.
star Smoking rates amongst young people in Scotland are the highest in the UK.
star 15% of 15 year olds smoke regularly.
12% of 15 year old boys smoke regularly.
18% of 15 year old girls smoke regularly.
star 82% of 15 year old regular smokers reported buying cigarettes from shops.
star 49% of 15 year old regular smokers said they would like to give up smoking altogether.
star 24.7% of the Scottish population smoke.
star Around 13,000 people die in Scotland every year from tobacco.
