A little about us...

Who We Are

Fast Forward was established in 1987 as a charity registered in Scotland and a company limited by guarantee.

At the heart of our work is enabling young people to make informed choices about their well-being and to live healthier lifestyles.

We provide high quality health education and prevention interventions and projects.

Our work began in substance use and peer education, and now includes a range of youth health and well-being project work, training, consultancy and resources.

As a charity we receive financial support from a number of sources. We gratefully acknowledge core funding from the Scottish Government’s Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention Fund.

OUR TRACK RECORD

We have 30 years experience of working across Scotland with young people, community organisations and schools. At the heart of our work is enabling young people to make informed choices about their health, wellbeing and lifestyles.

We provide experiential learning based on accurate information and engagement with young people. Education and prevention – on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, have been at the centre of our work along with support for young peoples’ volunteering and peer education. Our work today is very much about promoting young peoples’ resilience in response to a range of risk taking behaviours.

How we operate

We run our organisation responsibly and ethically, fully in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR) and Companies House. We adhere to the financial regulations requiring accounts to be audited or independently examined.

Fast Forward’s Board is recruited in an open and transparent fashion and a range of skills are represented in its membership. The Board meets four times per annum and it is responsible for the strategic, financial and legal operation of the organisation.

Fast Forward has a wide range of policies to direct its internal operations. We require all staff and volunteers to be part of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme.

ENGAGING WITH AND INVOLVING YOUNG PEOPLE DIRECTLY IN WHAT WE DO, HELPS US TO LEARN

This contributes to the development of our information resources. Fast Forward’s work is dynamic because it focuses on the needs and issues of today’s young people. We respond to developing social trends and to the evidence that demonstrates changing needs and behaviours in young people.

Fast Forward is experienced in developing approaches that are attractive to and have credibility with young people. Our staff are skilled youth/ community workers or health professionals who want to make a positive difference.
