Peer Education Programme at Gracemount

Peer Education Programme at Gracemount

Senior Pupils at Gracemount High, Edinburgh have just completed Peer Education training and delivered sessions to first year pupils.
The fifth and six years received training from Fast Forward in peer education and on their topics, devised their own lesson plans then delivered interactive sessions to all first year classes within the school on the topics of alcohol and smoking. Over 100 young people participated.
Pupils said
"I like it because we can understand well and there was less pressure"
"I liked it because they're teaching us things we don't know about cigarettes"
"They listened to our reasons and opinions and they gave us great games and exercises to do."
The senior pupils are looking forward to working with the transitioning Primary Sevens nearer the summer months.
